​​”The Integrity Icon Morocco 2020″ is an initiative launched by the SimSim in partnership with Accountability Lab and Innovation for Change in 2020. This initiative aimed to promote the values of integrity by highlighting positive examples of public sector employees, as well as inspiring the new generation of civil servants to embody the values of integrity and serve citizens in their work.

The initiative began with a phase of nominating public sector employees who exemplified the values of integrity and public service through the initiative’s platform, with the nomination process open to the public. In the second step, a specialized jury carefully selected five candidates based on precise and specific criteria. In the third phase, the final candidates were introduced through videos showcasing their initiatives and achievements, and a public voting process was opened to allow citizens to choose a candidate, who was then announced as the “Integrity Icon” during the initiative’s final ceremony. In the fourth and final phase, SimSim, supported by Innovation for Change and Accountability Lab, worked on developing future initiatives with the selected candidates and supported them in implementing their initiatives.

It is worth noting that this initiative was previously organized in Nepal and Liberia in 2014 and 2015, and later reached Mexico, Mali, South Africa, and several other countries starting in 2016. Its launch in Morocco marked a first for the North Africa and Middle East region.
