Measuring the impact of the House of Representatives’ engagement in the Open Government Initiative on promoting participatory democracy and digital parliament

The involvement of the House of Representatives in the Open Government Partnership Initiative is a positive step in the process of opening up the legislative institution to its surroundings and strengthening dialogue and trust between the parliament and all social actors. This engagement reflects a political and institutional willingness to take advantage of the opportunities available through this initiative to improve the work of the House of Representatives and strengthen the democratic functions entrusted to it. More than four years after the House’s involvement in this initiative, a number of observations have surfaced that need to be taken into account to optimize this experience to fully achieve the objectives in a participatory and sustainable way.
