Launched by the SimSim-Participation Citoyenne in partnership with the SecDev Foundation, the Salam@ project aims to raise awareness about the importance of digital safety, along with the regulations that must be considered and adhered to.

Through the Salam@ project, the association worked to raise awareness of the importance of dealing with various forms of cyber threats in light of the growing need for the internet in our daily lives, and in the absence of any regulation that ensures its safe use by children and youth.

Project objectives:

  • Raising awareness about the risks of unsafe internet use and social media, especially by youth and children;
  • Introducing the tools, techniques, and solutions that can enhance the digital safety of users;
  • Drawing the attention of relevant educational institutions to the necessity of promoting a digital security culture among youth and children, and protecting them from the cyber threats surrounding them.

In the first phase of the project, SimSim had accomplished:

  • Introducing the project;
  • Conducting a study on youth and children’s use of the Internet and social media;
  • Communication and networking with partner organizations and key stakeholders in the telecommunications sector.

In the second phase, the following actions were taken:

  • Starting the digital security workshops for youth and children;
  • Launching a communication campaign to raise awareness about the risks of unsafe internet use;
  • Publishing a digital security guide.

In the third phase, the following tasks were accomplished:

  • Institutional advocacy to integrate digital education into school curricula;
  • Launching a digital safety platform for youth and children.
